PETALING JAYA (April 13) Music teacher Karen Khaw Phaik Ean, 36, charged with murdering her British boyfriend will have to wait another month for the case to be re-mentioned.

Magistrate Ho Kwong Chin set April 13 for re mention as the prosecution was not prepared to proceed with the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death sentence upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Zhafr Rahim Hamzah told the court here that the chemistry department is yet to submit their findings.

“The postmortem report too is not ready,” he told the court.

The defence, represented by two lawyers from Chan Weng Keng & Associated agreed to the date set by the court.

Karen, handcuffed and seen occasionally wiping her tears spent some private moment chatting wit family members while the court stood down in between hearing other cases..

Wearing a black tee-shirt and gray slacks, the bespectacled music teacher was hushed into a packed dock with other accused awaiting their turn for their cases to come up for hearing.

The medium built teacher is charged with murdering Andrew Michael Murchie, 46, between 8am and 9am on March 5 at a rented house at SS2 last Friday.
